I set up Pippa Martlew Garden Design in 2014, to focus on creating gardens for everyday living.
My aim is to combine creative and practical solutions, to produce unique and beautiful gardens for relaxation and entertainment.
I have been designing gardens for nearly 20 years - 9 of which I spent working for the highly regarded, multiple Chelsea Gold and Best in Show winner, Andy Sturgeon.
Working for Andy gave me the opportunity to work on some fantastic gardens - large and small, town and country, contemporary and traditional. It also gave me invaluable experience of soft and hard landscaping practicalities and working with contractors.
I have been lucky enough to experience the glamour and grit of RHS Chelsea Flower Show many times, having assisted on 6 Gold Medal Winning Gardens, including Andy Sturgeon’s Best in Show 2010 for the Daily Telegraph and Joe Perkins' 2019 Best in Category garden for Facebook.
Prior to retraining as a garden designer, I spent many years working in client services for some of London's top graphic design agencies.
This taught me the importance of listening and understanding what it is that the client actually wants. I am skilled at interpreting your thoughts and ideas into a brief and then translating these onto paper and into a finished garden design.
My aim is to work transparently, collaboratively and to take the mystery out of the creative process. Most of all, I want my clients to enjoy the experience of designing and building a garden together.
I find it immensely satisfying to remain in touch with my clients over the years, offering advice and improvements as their gardens mature and evolve.
